Revival Thoughts is not designed to create confusion or controversy in any way, shape, or form. From the very inception of this writing ministry, it has been my desire to share my heart with those subscribing to Revival Thoughts, and at no time have I ever desired what I write be divisive or schismatic. Though I do tackle controversial subjects, and have been known to be direct and pointed, I have not written over the years to offend or hurt folks, but to provoke my readers to thought and provide one manís perspective. I have attempted to write in love, and not out of malice in any form. It is never my goal to be contentious in any way. I strive to temper my views with grace and take great care to refrain from a harsh, ugly or antagonistic spirit. I trust that this is evident to those who receive my written thoughts.
What I write is intended for edification and to provide perhaps another view that my readers may not have previously considered. Certainly what I express in my thoughts does not constitute the very last word on any subject. It is not my intention to unduly challenge or undermine the biblically held convictions or positions of other good men and fellow ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I have a deep and abiding respect for the thoughts and opinions of other good men, and uphold in every way their God-given right to those thoughts and opinions without malice or an adversarial, antagonistic, pugnacious, or hostile spirit. Godís people can certainly have differing positions and theological views on various issues that do not involve doctrinal error or compromise. In such a case, there is no need for division or strife, but rather a recognition of Christian liberty that allows for differences without anger, dissimulation, or a bitter and untoward attitude. Differences of view tempered with love provide for a measure of gracious latitude.
As I share my heart, it is never my desire or expectation that what I write should ever be taken on face value alone, but that Godís people would, as did the Bereans, search the Scriptures and study the issues for themselves to determine the spiritual value of that which is written.
Please understand that Revival Thoughts is not to be misconstrued as some sort of replacement for the pulpit ministry of the local New Testament Church, nor as a challenge to, or replacement for the preaching and teaching ministry of the local church. A large measure of my ministry as an evangelist is dedicated to pastoral support, and I strive to uphold the under-shepherd in every way. I work with dozens of pastors throughout the course of any given year, and always strive to assist and uphold them as I minister alongside of them. The evangelist is described as Godís gift to the church (Ephesians 4:11), and it is his distinct responsibility to come alongside the pastor for the benefit of the assembly.
There are many writing and literature ministries within fundamental circles of fellowship today. I am personally the recipient of several publications, including regular e-mail transmissions containing the thoughts of several good men. Many of my readers receive various publications as well, and like me, all may not always agree with everything that is written. In such a case, we are required to consider why it is we may be in disagreement, and establish for ourselves our own convictions about any given matter. I do much research of my own on the internet, as well as through other sources, and spend much time in study of the issues that affect and confront Godís people. In particular, I address the need for revival, and warn against the dangers of cultural influences and the subtle drift within fundamentalism today. Of great importance to me have been issues surrounding marriage and the family. I am by no stretch of the imagination some sort of ecclesiastical ďexpertĒ in these areas of concern, but I do strive to present material that I believe is biblical and helpful. In any case, when I see that I may not have taken a correct position on any matter, I must be willing to listen to any opposing thought, and be willing to make the proper and appropriate corrections.
My heartís desire is to maintain loving harmony with the brethren, even when there are dissenting views. In the end, Christ is what and who matters most, and we must stay focused upon His lovely Person. Revival Thoughts has been dedicated to that purpose.
