GOD’S SONG IN THE NIGHT 2

"I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search." (Psalm 77:6)

The night is a time of reflection and, as the psalmist, we can acknowledge to God that “Thou hast proved my heart. Thou hast visitedst me in the night.” (Psalm 17:3). God opens eternity to us in the night in a way He cannot do in the day; for the day is filled with activity and noise. In the quietness of the night, when silence abounds in the soul, He gives His message in song; “His song in the night.”

A song is a message in melody and harmony; a song in the night is a message of deliverance and a promise of joy for the coming morning. We can be assured that God’s “everlasting arms” are underneath us, to bear us up in all the circumstances of our lives that will come in the course of each day.

God’s song in the night may follow a day of prosperity and gladness or a day of trial and sorrow. It also will be followed by another day of duty and privilege, which the Lord has made. He will give light to our path to guide us and give us grace to do all of our duty. He has promised, “as thy day so shall thy strength be.”

Under His wings,
